Literature Text

Titanic slept fitfully that night. She was having nightmares about Lusitania's taunts and bullying again, and she awoke in the middle of the night with a tear stained face. She wept silently as she looked down at the water.
Her designer, Thomas Andrews, happened to be there making some checks to her design. He looked behind him to see Titanic sobbing pitifully and quickly ran to her side. "Titanic what is wrong?" He asked gently as he stroked her hull.
Titanic blinked back another fresh wave of tears. "Thomas Andrews what if Lusitania is right?" She cried. "What if I really am useless? What if I'm not a real ship because I like music?!" She burst into sobs again.
Andrews rubbed her hull. "Titanic, let me tell you something." He said gently. "There is nothing wrong with you just because you are different from the other ships. It is just what makes you special." Titanic looked up. "Y-you really think I'm s-special?" She stammered. Andrews nodded with a smile. "Of course you are! No ship is exactly the same, Titanic. If Lusitania has trouble accepting you for who you are, it is never your fault." Titanic smiled. "Really?" Andrews nodded again. "I have heard you sing in your sleep sometimes." Titanic chuckled and her hull plating blushed deep red. "I sing in my sleep?" Andrews chuckled too. "Yes you do, Titanic. The same songs the workers sing. You have a very unique talent, and I think it is a good one." Titanic smiled as she leaned into her builders touch slightly. "Thank you, Thomas." She whispered. Andrews smiled. "Your welcome Titanic. Now get some rest. A young ship like you mustn't stay up too late." And with a good night, he walked off.
Titanic sighed happily as she settled down. It was then she heard the wind whistling a tune in her ear as if it were a voice...
Okay, my previous announcement that it was 4 chapters long was incorrect. There are about six chapters and an epilogue. In this one, Titanic talks with Thomas Andrews, who assures her that her gift is a strength, not a weakness.

I can only imagine what it is she's sings in her sleep and of course I wonder what her captain would think if he heard her do that?
